Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (or ground chicken/turkey): The main protein source.
1 cup breadcrumbs: For binding and texture.
1 large egg: To help hold the meatballs together.
3 green onions (finely chopped): For freshness and flavor.
2 cloves garlic (minced): To enhance the taste.
1 tablespoon fresh ginger (minced): For a zesty kick.
¼ cup soy sauce: For saltiness and umami.
2 tablespoons sesame oil: To add richness.
1 tablespoon brown sugar: For a touch of sweetness.
1 teaspoon ground black pepper: For seasoning.
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional): For heat.
1 cup teriyaki sauce: For cooking and glazing.
Sesame seeds (for garnish): To finish.
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Step 2: Form the Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet or plate as you form them.
Step 3: Prepare the Crockpot
Lightly grease the bottom of the Crockpot with cooking spray or a little oil. Arrange the meatballs in a single layer in the Crockpot.
Step 4: Add the Sauce
Pour the teriyaki sauce evenly over the meatballs, ensuring they are well coated.
Step 5: Cook
Cover the Crockpot and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. The meatballs will be fully cooked and infused with the flavors of the sauce.
Step 6: Serve
Once cooked, gently stir the meatballs to coat them in the sauce. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and additional chopped green onions if desired.
