BBQ Brisket Melts Recipe

  • Author: valindacrockpot

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound cooked brisket, shredded or sliced
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 4 slices of bread (such as Texas toast, sourdough, or ciabatta)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • Optional toppings: pickles, sliced onions, or coleslaw

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Brisket

  1. Mix Brisket and Sauce: In a bowl, combine the shredded or sliced brisket with the barbecue sauce. Mix until the brisket is well coated.

Step 2: Assemble the Sandwiches

  1. Butter Bread: Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Layer Ingredients: On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer the BBQ brisket mixture and top with shredded cheese. Place the other two slices of bread on top, buttered side up.

Step 3: Cook the Melts

  1. Heat Skillet: Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Grill Sandwiches: Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press down slightly with a spatula for even cooking.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Slice and Enjoy: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute. Slice in half and serve warm with optional toppings like pickles, sliced onions, or coleslaw.
