Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound cooked brisket, shredded or sliced
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
- 4 slices of bread (such as Texas toast, sourdough, or ciabatta)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- Optional toppings: pickles, sliced onions, or coleslaw
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Brisket
- Mix Brisket and Sauce: In a bowl, combine the shredded or sliced brisket with the barbecue sauce. Mix until the brisket is well coated.
Step 2: Assemble the Sandwiches
- Butter Bread: Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer Ingredients: On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer the BBQ brisket mixture and top with shredded cheese. Place the other two slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
Step 3: Cook the Melts
- Heat Skillet: Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Grill Sandwiches: Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press down slightly with a spatula for even cooking.
Step 4: Serve
- Slice and Enjoy: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute. Slice in half and serve warm with optional toppings like pickles, sliced onions, or coleslaw.
