Ingredients
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs: The main protein for the dish.
1 cup honey: For sweetness and glaze.
1/2 cup soy sauce: For a savory depth of flavor.
1/4 cup ketchup: Adds tanginess and richness.
1 tablespoon minced garlic: For aromatic flavor.
1 tablespoon minced ginger: For a hint of warmth.
1 teaspoon sesame oil: For a nutty undertone.
1/2 teaspoon black pepper: To taste.
1 tablespoon cornstarch: For thickening the sauce.
2 tablespoons water: To mix with cornstarch.
Chopped green onions (optional, for garnish): For freshness.
Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish): For added texture.
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Sauce
In a mixing bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.
Step 2: Place Chicken in the Slow Cooker
Place the boneless chicken thighs in the slow cooker, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
Step 3: Add the Sauce
Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken, making sure all pieces are coated.
Step 4: Cook the Chicken
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
Step 5: Thicken the Sauce
About 30 minutes before serving, mix the cornstarch with water in a small bowl to create a slurry. Stir this mixture into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce, and allow it to cook for an additional 30 minutes.
Step 6: Serve
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks if desired. Serve the chicken drizzled with the thickened honey garlic sauce, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
