  • Author: linda kitchen
  • Total Time: 22 minute

Ingredients

Scale

2 pounds flank steak (sliced thinly against the grain): The main protein that absorbs the delicious flavors.

1 cup soy sauce: For a salty, umami-rich base.

½ cup brown sugar: To add sweetness and balance the flavors.

⅓ cup rice vinegar: For acidity and brightness.

4 cloves garlic (minced): To infuse the dish with aromatic flavor.

1 tablespoon fresh ginger (grated): For a zesty kick.

1 tablespoon sesame oil: To enhance the dish with a nutty aroma.

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes: For a hint of heat (optional).

2 green onions (sliced, for garnish): To add freshness and color.

Sesame seeds (for garnish): To provide a crunchy texture and visual appeal.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Beef

Slice 2 pounds of flank steak thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.

Step 2: Combine the Ingredients

In a slow cooker, combine the sliced beef, 1 cup of soy sauce, ½ cup of brown sugar, ⅓ cup of rice vinegar, 4 minced garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon of grated ginger, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (if using).

Stir well to ensure the beef is evenly coated with the sauce.

Step 3: Cook

Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Step 4: Serve

Once cooked, shred the beef gently with a fork and stir to combine it with the sauce.

Serve over steamed rice or noodles, and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation.
